3 Music Video Analysis's

3 Music Video Analysis's 'Adventure of a Lifetime' (Coldplay) The music video starts with natural noises (birds chirping etc) as we are introduced to the setting of the music video via mise en scene; we are given a long shot/high angle shot of a jungle. This could also leave the audience curious about why Coldplay has chosen a jungle to shoot the music video. There are also warm colours (yellow and orange) which connote happiness and peace, which is one of the atmospheres the song is trying to create. We then cut to 4 chimps/apes (each one representing a member of the band). The camera is slightly obscured by leaves and other foliage in the jungle; this creates a sense of documentary, as though we are looking in on the life of a regular ape. One of the apes (the one representing Chris Martin) discovers a strange item which is playing the song; the music video then springs to life. The apes seem to enjoy listening to the music, and they dance to it and sing along to it....

Introduction - 'Violet Hill' Lyrics and History Analysis

Introduction to my Music Video My name is James Whiffing and I enjoy listening to the likes of Coldplay and The Black Eyed Peas. For my music video, I have chosen the anti-war protest song 'Violet Hill' by Coldplay. Upon studying the lyrics of the song, I found that the band use symbolism and repetition to get across their political message to the audience. Within the lyrics, Coldplay continuously refer to the media, religion and war, and how people need to wake up and understand the misdeeds happening in the world around them. 'Violet Hill' Lyrics Analysis In the music video, Chris Martin (Coldplay's lead singer) plays the role of a soldier at war. The first stanza of the song mentions that "There was snow, white snow" . In a metaphorical sense, snow conceals and covers up things, so Coldplay could be referring to the fact that deception is everywhere and many things aren't as they seem; the media often conceal the truth from readers by for...
